These Repair Terms supplement our General Terms and Conditions. They apply when we agree to diagnose, repair, upgrade or otherwise work on a computer, laptop, Mac, storage device or related equipment.
1. Booking and approval
A booking is a request and remains Pending Approval until our staff accept it. A preferred date, time or address does not create an appointment.
Workshop drop-off is free for an approved appointment. Where we approve collection and return, the total charge for both journeys is £49.99. Collection is arranged manually after we review the address.
Before chargeable work begins, we will agree the device, reported fault, initial scope, price or pricing basis, and any diagnostic fee. If inspection shows that materially different work or cost is needed, we will ask for your approval before proceeding.
2. Device intake and condition
At handover, we will record enough information to identify the equipment and protect both parties. This may include the make, model, serial or asset number, accessories received, visible condition, reported fault and relevant existing damage. Please check the intake record and tell us promptly if anything is inaccurate.
Tell us about liquid exposure, drops, intermittent faults, previous repair attempts, modified hardware, missing screws, swollen batteries, electrical damage and any other fact that could make testing unsafe or misleading. We may photograph the exterior or relevant damage for the job record in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may decline or stop work if equipment is unsafe, unlawfully held, subject to an unresolved activation or management lock, materially different from its description, or beyond work we can safely and competently provide.
3. Diagnosis, quotations and additional work
Diagnosis may require disassembly, testing and suitable diagnostic tools. Some faults cannot be identified until a device is opened or tested under load. Existing damage or deterioration can make disassembly risky, but we will use reasonable care and skill.
An estimate is not a fixed quotation. We will explain material additional work or cost and obtain your approval before proceeding. If you decline a revised proposal, we will stop where reasonably possible and arrange return, subject only to a diagnostic fee, ordered part or completed work that you expressly agreed.
There is no diagnostic, cancellation, minimum or “no fix” fee unless we disclosed it and you accepted it before the relevant work began.
4. Parts and replaced components
Where it is material, we will explain whether a proposed part is manufacturer-supplied, original-equipment, compatible new, refurbished or used. Availability may change. We will not substitute a materially different part without your agreement.
We will explain whether a removed part belongs to you, must be returned to a supplier for a warranty exchange, is unsafe to return, or is proposed for recycling. We will not assume ownership of your part or discard it without your agreement or another lawful basis. If you want a removed part returned, tell us before work starts. Return may be impossible where an agreed supplier exchange requires it or it cannot lawfully or safely be handed back.
An independent repair may affect a manufacturer warranty or a device’s water-resistance rating. We will not claim that a manufacturer warranty or ingress-resistance rating continues unless we have evidence for that repair.
5. Timescales and delays
A completion date is an estimate unless we expressly agree it as fixed. Parts availability, hidden faults, supplier delays, manufacturer procedures and further customer approval can affect timing. We will tell you about a material delay and use reasonable care to complete the service within the agreed or otherwise reasonable time.
6. Backups, data and access credentials
Back up important data before handover where reasonably possible. Tell us before work begins if preserving data is a priority or if no backup is possible. Diagnosis, component failure, malware removal, operating-system work, storage replacement and manufacturer procedures can affect data.
We do not promise that data will remain available unless a specific backup or recovery service is separately agreed. This does not remove our duty to use reasonable care and skill or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Do not submit passwords, recovery keys, payment credentials or sensitive file contents through the booking form. If a login is genuinely needed to diagnose or test the agreed repair, we will explain the purpose and agree an appropriate handover method. Use a temporary account or credential where practical and change it afterwards. We will not browse customer files except where necessary for the authorised task.
Remove SIM cards, loose memory cards and unrelated removable media unless they are part of the fault. Any accessory or media intentionally handed over should be included on the intake record.
7. Existing faults and repair risk
A device may have hidden damage, worn components or more than one fault. Repairing one fault does not make us responsible for an unrelated or later fault. Liquid damage, corrosion, impact damage, failing storage, swollen batteries and earlier unauthorised work can progress despite reasonable care.
We do not use these risks to avoid responsibility for damage caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill. If something happens, we will consider the intake record, agreed work, condition and evidence and explain the outcome.
8. Six-month parts warranty
Replacement parts supplied and fitted by Tech Pro 247 carry a six-month contractual warranty. The final job record or invoice will identify the covered part and the date from which the six-month period runs.
The warranty covers a fault in that supplied part under normal use. It does not cover an unrelated component, a new accident, liquid or impact damage, misuse, malware, software changes, normal consumable wear, failure to follow reasonable care instructions, or unauthorised third-party interference. An exclusion applies only where it is relevant to the claimed fault.
If you report a covered fault, please give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect it and, where appropriate, repair or replace the affected part. This warranty is additional to your statutory rights in the service and any goods supplied. It does not reduce or replace those rights.
9. Repeat or unresolved faults
If the reported fault recurs, contact us promptly with the job reference and symptoms. We will compare the issue with the documented repair. A recurrence of the same fault may require repeat performance or another remedy under consumer law. A different fault may need a separate diagnosis and quotation.
10. Drop-off, collection and return
Workshop drop-off is free for an approved appointment. Do not bring equipment until we have confirmed the arrangement.
Where offered and approved, collection and return costs £49.99 in total for both journeys. It does not include diagnosis, repair, labour or parts. We will assess the address and agree the arrangements with you. The job record should identify equipment and accessories transferred at each handover.
We will tell you about any packing requirement, access condition, failed-access charge or redelivery term before it becomes part of the arrangement.
11. Cancellation
Tell us promptly if you wish to cancel. If a statutory cancellation right applies, our General Terms explain it. Outside that right, any amount due must relate to work, parts or costs that were properly disclosed and authorised.
12. Payment and release of equipment
The agreed quotation, confirmation or invoice will state when payment is due. The booking form does not take payment. Subject to applicable law, we may keep equipment until a properly due charge for agreed work has been paid. This does not transfer ownership to us.
13. Ready-for-collection and uncollected equipment
When equipment is ready, we will notify you and ask you to arrange collection. We request collection within three months after that notification. We will keep appropriate records of the ready notice, reminders, contact attempts and any outstanding charges.
An unpaid invoice or the passing of three months does not make the equipment our property. If it remains uncollected, we may begin the applicable statutory written-notice process. Where the conditions are met, the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 may permit a sale after the required notices. A formal notice of intended sale will allow the period required by law, including at least three months where that statutory period applies because qualifying charges remain unpaid.
We will stop a proposed sale if a dispute or another legal restriction prevents it. Any lawful sale will be recorded, use an appropriate method and account for the proceeds after deductions permitted by law. We will not automatically confiscate, dispose of, recycle or sell equipment solely because three months have passed. Unsafe or waste-classified equipment requires a separate lawful handling decision.
14. Data recovery and secure erasure
Data recovery and secure erasure are separate services with their own written scope and authorisation. Recovery is an attempt and cannot be guaranteed. We describe only the erasure method and validation actually used and do not promise universal irrecoverability.
Please read our Data Recovery and Secure Erasure Policy before asking for this work.
15. Complaints and statutory rights
Contact services@techpro247.co.uk or 020 7998 6930 and provide the job reference. Nothing in these terms excludes the requirement to provide consumer services with reasonable care and skill or any other statutory right that cannot lawfully be limited.
